ADAM GALLERY

The Adam Gallery collection focusses on Czech contemporary painting from the 1980s to the present. Thematically, it is orientated towards Czech postmodernism, returns of the avant-garde or various forms of abstraction; nevertheless, the principal and most critical criterion is the quality of the works themselves. The collection includes works by Daniel Balabán, Tomáš Císařovský, Jiří Černický, Ján Mančuška, Jiří Načeradský, Hana Puchová, Jaroslav Róna, Jiří Sopko, Jiří Surůvka, Jakub Špaňhel and many others. It is one of the most compact collections of contemporary painting which also reflects very young artists (Joself Bolf, Václav Girsa, Vladimír Houdek, Eva Koťátková, Evžen Šimera and others). The enlargement of the collection as such is also associated with the increased number of artists it covers; hence, works by artists who graduated after 2010 are gradually completing the collection. In addition, it expands to and penetrates the foreign scene, which thus "tests" Czech art and confirms its quality. As a consequence, works by contemporary German painters such as Christian Macketanz, Hans-Peter Thomas (aka Bara), Thomas Helbig and Tilman Hoepfl are part of the collection.
