Petr Kvíčala

Kvíčala is one of the most distinctive representatives of geometric abstraction. Since the mid-1980s he has been working with ornament as a peculiar means of expression. He uses its individual elements which he reproduces, reverses and deforms in various ways. The patterns thus created are often on the borderline between op art and decorative ornament. He systematically works with lines and waves. He is the creator of decorations in the interiors of the newly reconstructed Reduta theatre in Brno, the oldest theatre building in Central Europe.
