Jiří Valenta

Jiří Valenta studied at the Prague Academy of Fine Arts with Miloslav Holý and Karel Souček and there he also met the important movers of his generation, for instance, Koblasa and Medek. However, after the events of 1968, Valenta emigrated to Germany, where he remained. He participated in the organization of the unofficial studio exhibitions called Confrontations, and the first one was even held in his studio. He was close to the environment of Czech informel, his later works become brighter and are often complemented with drawings.
