Jiří Sopko

Figure is the main subject of paintings by Jiří Sopko, currently professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague and one of the most distinctive artists whose works have developed since the late 1960s. His works are characterized by bright colours and by alternating or combining melancholic, grotesque and aggressive tones. Between 2002 and 2010, Sopko worked as rector of the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague.
