Jiří Skála

Nowadays, Jiří Skála is usually described as a conceptual artist. However, in his beginnings he was devoted to painting within which he carried out his first projects on the borderline of concept. His expression has a strong narrative character trying to arouse a response in the surroundings. Written expression, which becomes both part of installations and functions independently, for instance, in the form of a blog, is important in his work. Skála is a laureate of the 2009 Jindřich Chalupecký Award and a member of the PAS – produkce aktivit současnosti (PAS – Production of Activities of the Present) group.
