Boris Sirka

The demonic beings which occupy Boris Sirka's paintings are visually attractive and at the same time unsettling for the viewer. The eroticism of naked female bodies in provoking postures is subdued by the way they are captured. The bodies seem to be stripped of skin, black and red combinations emphasize a demonic appearance, or faces and places have a portentous shade of the supernatural by being smudged or their contours shifted. When confronted with his work, viewers find themselves on the borderline of an undreamed demonic world which Sirka systematically creates for them.
