František Matoušek

Matoušek's works are characterized by multiple elements. In particular, they are shaped by the material which he uses, which is not a traditional one. Matoušek is the only Czech artist to work with denim as the main medium. Another distinctive feature is his inspiration by faces, first pop icons, later his close ones or visually interesting persons. Finally, Matoušek is also a traveller who visits exotic countries, where he tries to capture the spirit of the place and transfer it to the picture. He is a careful collector of information which then serves to capture, in the most thorough way possible, the expression of the landscape and human face.
